On 11 - 15
June 2007, in Tshwane, South Africa hosted the 8th
meeting of UNESCO’s International Advisory Committee (I.A.C)
of the Memory of the World (M.O.W) Programme. At this
meeting the “Tshwane Minute” was adopted, this document
indicates and gives guidance on how African governments
need to address and promote the proper preservation of
documentary heritage.
Realising that only eight African countries attended and
participated in this workshop, a decision was taken that
these countries form an interim structure which will
facilitate that another meeting for African Countries be
held before the end of December 2007 to formalize and
establish a “permanent” Africa Regional Committee of
MoW.
